There’s an epidemic of low back pain in America. It’s hard to find a single person who hasn’t experienced an excruciating episode of pain. The question is why? And then, how can we prevent it?
I think the answer to "why the epidemic of pain" is pretty simple. We sit too much. When we sit a lot our glutes de-activate and weaken. When that happens, it can lead to hip and back pain, often SI joint pain is a bi-product of underactive glutes. Our glutes are critical to supporting our pelvis and our lower spine. Strong glutes are central to healthy movement. There are other components to a healthy low back as well- core strength, length in hip flexors and length in hamstrings. I consider these important but secondary to the glutes. I have worked with many specialists and this is the consensus these days.
For 60-minutes we will practice a yoga class with our glutes as the main focus.. tho we will touch on core, hip flexors and hamstrings as well. We will follow up the practice with questions and discussion.
